What do racoons, sunflowers, and Independence Bank all have in common? Our July Kids Day of course!
Nearly 300 kids showed up and received $2 worth of tokens, participated in our incredible kids day offerings, and enjoyed our vibrant market! If you’ve never attended a kids day, you’re missing out! Any child 0-18 receives $2 to shop for plants or produce, a wide variety of vendors show up to sell their goodies, and some vendors package plants and produce worth exactly $2 to sell specifically for kids day.
We had 8 vendors show up to run activities at the July Kids Day. Thorn Hill Education Center offered coloring books and hula hooping; Anthem Medicaid, our FreshRx sponsor, showed up to give out many handouts and education about their offerings; Kentucky Heartwood Festival provided a paper-leaf making activity; Red Oaks Forest School had educational activities surrounding local animals and geology; YesArts and Together Frankfort partnered up to offer sensory bins and voter registration; Independence Bank held a planting and coloring activity; and Critter Ridge Sanctuary was the star of the show with baby raccoons!
Under the pavilion our vendors had a variety of offerings. Peaches were out in full force, there were plenty of cherry tomatoes, Manuscript Coffee was brewing up cups of coffee, eggs and gorgeous bouquets were everywhere. I know I enjoyed a morning bun from Andy’s Bakery, and snagged a beautiful sunflower for my sister from High Five Farm.
The market would like to give a huge thank you to all of our vendors, loyal customers, activity providers, and especially Independence Bank for sponsoring this month’s Kids Day!
Kids Days are the Second Saturday of each month, and we hope to see you at one of our 5 remaining Kids Days this year. Our next one will be Saturday, August 12th. It’ll be a grand time whether or not you have kids!
